Open an Email Archive Online — One Reader for Nine File Types

Open PST, OST, MBOX, MBX, OLM, MSG, EML, EMAIL and ZIP email archives in one browser workspace without installing Outlook or Thunderbird.

An Email Archive Should Open Like Email

An archive may arrive as a PST from Outlook, an OST from an old Exchange profile, an MBOX export from Gmail or Thunderbird, an OLM from Outlook for Mac, or a folder of MSG and EML messages. The useful content is the same: conversations, senders, dates, folders and attachments. The file format is only the container.

MailtoPst Email Reader turns those containers back into a familiar inbox inside the browser. You upload the archive once, wait for it to be indexed, then move through folders, search messages and open attachments without configuring a desktop email account.

File Types You Can Open

The reader accepts these source types in one workflow:

  • PST — Outlook data files and mailbox exports
  • OST — cached Outlook and Exchange mailboxes
  • MBOX and MBX — Gmail Takeout, Thunderbird and Unix mailbox exports
  • OLM — Outlook for Mac archives
  • MSG — individual Outlook messages
  • EML and EMAIL — individual internet email messages
  • ZIP — supported email files grouped into one upload

That means you do not have to identify and install a different utility for every archive you receive. The upload step is the same; MailtoPst detects the supported source and builds the readable view.

What Happens After Upload

1. The Archive Is Indexed

MailtoPst reads the folder and message structure before presenting the inbox. The original source file is not rewritten. Indexing makes it possible to move between folders and retrieve messages without reparsing the entire archive for every click.

2. Folders Become Navigation

Inbox, Sent, Drafts and custom archive folders appear as a navigable hierarchy. Message counts make it easier to understand the size and shape of the mailbox before opening individual items.

3. Messages Become Readable

The reading pane brings together the subject, participants, date, body and attachments. Search helps locate a message without importing the archive into an active email account.

4. You Decide Whether Conversion Is Needed

Reading and conversion are separate jobs. If you only need to recover information, remain in Email Reader. If the archive must move into Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail or another system, continue with the online converter.

When an Online Reader Is the Shortest Route

An online reader is useful when:

  • You received an unfamiliar archive and need to see what it contains.
  • Outlook, Exchange or Thunderbird is not installed on the current device.
  • The original email account no longer exists.
  • You need one message or attachment rather than a complete migration.
  • You want to inspect the archive before paying for a conversion.
  • You are working from macOS, Windows, Linux or a managed computer where software installation is restricted.

It avoids creating a new mail profile, importing thousands of messages into a live mailbox or converting an archive before you know whether it contains the material you need.

Preview First, Unlock Only If Useful

The limited preview lets you confirm that MailtoPst can read the archive and that the expected folders and messages are present. Full archive access costs €19 for 30 days. The access window is designed for a recovery or review job rather than an ongoing subscription.

Reader or Converter?

Choose Email Reader when the destination is your browser: you need to inspect, search or recover content.

Choose Converter when the destination is another system: you need a PST for Outlook, an MBOX for Thunderbird or Apple Mail, or individual EML files for portable message access.

If you are still deciding, read Email Reader vs Email Converter.

Open the Archive You Already Have

You do not need to rebuild an old email setup just to recover a conversation. Bring the PST, OST, MBOX, MBX, OLM, MSG, EML, EMAIL or ZIP file and let the browser turn it back into an inbox.
